When
I was very young my parents moved a lot; from England to Canada and then to two different cities and three different apartments in four years. I was constantly making friends and losing them, and feeling very sad about it. Finally we moved to a brand new house and I had to leave my friends behind once more. But this time it was much, much worse. While my parents were thrilled to be in their first house in Canada, I was miserable. We were the only inhabitants on our street; the first people in our entire subdivision. There was no one else at all; not a single child to play with. The street was so new there weren’t even any trees or lawns. It was summer; so no school and no place to make new friends. I took to my room and I read. I read mysteries and adventures and stories about great friends having wonderful times together. I read about rabbit holes and secret gardens and mythical creatures, and anything else I could get my hands on. Reading became my friend, and it still is today.

Diana has wanted to write books for as long as she can remember. But instead she worked in a lot of different jobs, including reporting, researching, developing films, and teaching yoga. She traveled around the world and saw many amazing things. Finally she decided it was time to write.

Fern Verdant and the Silver Rose, is her first novel, and she is busily at work on her next. She was born in England raised in Canada, and now lives in California with her husband and a cat named Mouse.
